" Why is the SGG EVERCLEAR® glazing always transparent . ? "

  • The store-side glass is maintained at nearly the same temperature as in the store due to the high thermal insulating components of SGG EVERCLEAR®. Those avoid condensation on that glass. The freezer-side glass is coated. This coating is designed to manage moisture and make fog and frost invisible.

" How do you clean SGG EVERCLEAR® ? "

  • The store-side glass is to be cleaned as a standard window. To quickly and efficiently clean the freezer-side glass, use the SG SOVIS recommended cleaner.

" Can tempered glass withstand exposure to high temperatures? "

  • Yes. SGG SECURIT® tempered glass can withstand exposure to temperatures of up to 600ºC.
  • It can also withstand thermal gaps with temperature differences of 200°C.

" Are there specific recommendations regarding glass storage? "

  • Yes. Moisture may damage the glass surface. Therefore glass must be stored in a closed and dry warehouse with temperature above 10°C in Winter and ventilation during Summer.

" Is it possible to adjust the dimensions of a tempered glass? "

  • No. Cutting, edging or drilling can not be performed on a tempered glass. Any attempt to do so will cause the glass to shatter into multiple small pieces.
" Are specific products required to clean SGG ULTRA-VISION®? "

  • No. This anti-glare glass can be cleaned with clear water or any other non-alkaline detergent. However, it is very important to use a soft rag, a micro fiber cleaning rag or a wet sponge. Abrasive materials, such as scrubbing pads or coarse paper towels should not be used to clean SGG ULTRA-VISION® glass.

" Is the use of tempered glass in a display case compatible with food preservation? "

  • Yes. Mineral based glass has no effect on food displayed in a case. SG SOVIS can provide a certificate if necessary.

" Is it necessary to use a spacer between the glass and the metal hardware when mounting on a display case? "

  • Yes. Direct contact of glass with metal greatly increases the risk of breakage and is not recommended. As with all tempered glass-to-metal interfaces, a gasket or washer with maximum hardness of 50-60 Shore A and a minimum thickness of 1.5mm should be used.
